A Tyre for All Seasons

At BK Tyres, we’re often asked for our recommendations for a good all-season tyre. The Continental All Season Contact is an excellent choice.

Many enthusiastic drivers, especially with higher performance cars, prefer to use dedicated summer and winter tyres. There’s a lot to be said for this approach, which is all about picking the best tool for the job. And just a quick plug — BK Tyres does a highly rated tyre swap-over service.

However, there’s an increasing market for all season tyres. As the name implies, these are designed to offer great performance in summer and winter. Although they may not be able to match the best dedicated summer or winter tyres, tyre technology has advanced to the point where they are a competitive option.

You want great tyres to cope with conditions like these.

However, it’s still not easy to make a tyre that can perform in a huge variety of conditions, so it’s no surprise that the manufacturers who make the best are those with huge R & D budgets.

Whilst you can’t go far wrong with the all-seasons offerings from Goodyear, Michelin, Hankook and other quality manufacturers, we think that the Continental All Season Contact is a great option.

The Continental was the winner of the Auto Express All Season Tyre Test 2020. We think that’s something worth paying attention to. As a top motoring magazine, Auto Express has the resources and expertise to properly compare seven leading rivals.

Using expert drivers and a battery of performance tests, they found that the Continental outperformed all of the other brands on snow braking, snow handling, wet handling and rolling resistance (fuel economy). Some competitors did better in other categories. In dry braking, for example, the Continental managed fifth out of seven. But all season tests are about overall performance, and with solid results in other categories — such as wet braking and wet circle — the Continental was able to take top spot.

Outside of the testing track, user feedback is overwhelmingly positive, with drivers praising the Continental’s grip, ride quality and low noise levels. Tyre reviews.com has a good selection.
